Modelo 790 código 012: paying the fee before you go

You pay the state fee, the tasa, before the appointment: fill in the Modelo 790, código 012 online, tick the box of your procedure, then pay at a bank or online. The office itself takes no money. The form shows the current amount when you choose your procedure, so you do not need to look for it anywhere else.

Get help with my NIE

A form shared by many procedures

The same form serves the NIE certificate, the green certificate for EU citizens, the first TIE card and its renewals, the return authorisation and other procedures. You show which one you are paying for by ticking a casilla, a box on the form.

Tick one box only: the one for your procedure. A fee paid for another procedure does not count at your appointment.

Filling in the 790-012

  • Open the online form of the Policía Nacional for the tasa 790 código 012
  • Write your NIE if you have one, or your passport number
  • Write your name exactly as in your passport, and your address in Spain
  • Tick the box for your procedure
  • Choose the payment method, then print the form

Paying

You can pay in cash at a bank that takes state fees, or online where the form offers it. When you pay at the bank, the bank stamps the form. When you pay online, you receive a receipt with a code called the NRC. Bring the stamped form or the receipt to the appointment.

Small errors that cost a visit

  • The box of another procedure is ticked
  • The name is spelled differently from the passport
  • The fee is paid after the appointment, not before
  • The proof of payment stays at home

What the fee is, and is not

The fee goes to the State. It is not the price of any private help, and paying it does not make a decision faster or more likely to be positive.

Questions

Where do I see the amount?

On the form itself, when you tick your box. The amount is updated from time to time, so we do not print it here.

Can I pay at the Brigada on the day?

No. You pay before the appointment and bring the proof, which the officer checks with the rest of your folder.

Is it the same form for a TIE and for a green certificate?

Yes, the same form, with a different box for each procedure.

The form is in Spanish. What do I need to understand?

Only a few words: nombre (name), domicilio (address), the box of your procedure and the payment choice. We go through it with you if you wish.
